Thank you! This led me to the solution at least. Cheers. For any others having issues with the above solution, here's what I had to do. The port type that was auto-selected was not a standard TCP/IP port. It was a WSD Port and the description was a long string of characters. Wasn't the MAC address and it wasn't Hex I don't think. Anyway, when I clicked to configure it a message popped up and said "An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported." I noticed yours was TCP/IP though, and since my printer has a static IP address I just clicked add a new port, put in the IP address of the printer, and it worked. **Pro tip: During this process, if it says turn off the device first, do not turn off the device or it won't be able to find it on the network. Also, be logged in as Administrator. If you don't know what that means, or you don't know how to assign a static IP address to the printer, I'm sorry.

I spent hours trying all the different procedures to bring my Brother MFCJ6510 online after a laptop hard disk replacement and finally found this video- simply unchecking the SNMP tick box cured the issue . I haven't seen this fix anywhere else. many thanks.

In my case in Brother DCP-J105 - often the only solution was complete uninstall, and then reinstall the drivers with advanced option, after downloading from their site... Best regards!
