M57 engines never had IDI, that's on the older M51.
Also, the first generation common rail (2.5 163ps, 3.0 184 and 193ps) ran at 1350Bar maximum, while 1600Bar was the maximum for the N/tu variants (2.5 177, 3.0 204 and 218, 3.0 272 "top") and N2/tu2 (3.0 197, 3.0 231, 3.0 235 and 3.0 286 "top").

Recommend the ATM intake kit for 335D. It has a cold air intake isolated from engine heat. I have it installed in mine and the sound is way better than stock.

216 injectors with stock nozzle from 048 (145° spray angle)
Original CP1
76mm exhaust line, downpipe
good 270/280 hp, with those injectors it will smoke black, and allot... believe me and more consumption with thoze injectors, the 216 open more quickly than the 048 stock

IDI engines were M21 and M51. Their injection pressure was only ~150bar (not 1500 =D)

This video barely scratch the surface about the M57 engines. Each model year had different turbos, IC, routings for intake, turbo mountings, oil returns pipes, different injectors, piston designs, angle of fuel intake, how well the engine works with certain transmissions (how much torque they can hold), fuel pomps. Older M57 has two pumps, newer has completely different design.... and much much more. To really get an idea what YOUR M57 can do safely and efficiently you need to realy dive deep and just check it before throwing random stuff at it because you heard it somewehere it needs to be done etc. Also getting in to 400+ power levels other problems start occuring like lifting of the head, timing, oil pressure.. and much more. Finding a proper tunner who will not blow up your engine is another story on top of all of this.

So I have 02 3.0d that in stock has 193hp I have X5 turbo idk what KW it has +stage 2 chip, and, well, it ran nice until I wanted to overtake, -downshift -strange engine sound -something blew up -coolant tube rubber part made a crack -heas gasket gone -rev beyond 3.5k rip, engine chokes up and starts to push smoke form the gasket, makes big smoke could from exhaust, now, still a kick but can't "give it gass" engine tries to shut off

I have the M57d25 engine on my E39. If I want to increase the rail pressure what do I need to do? I don’t want mad power. I want to stay around 220/230hp

300hp is easy to obtain
(For 286/272 for sure we need only chip)

I have found guy who chips everything 231hp+ for ~300hp
And 272/286 for ~330

On the alu block 282bhp version the crank bearings are a weak point once you remap the shit outta them

Does anyone know the difference between an M57-TU2 and an M57-TU2 Top? I have a 335d that may need a new engine, and I’m considering whether I can buy a TU2 engine block (as they are more readily available)
