M57 engine noise

Green video thanks first time in 4 years i heard that noise today in my M57 and gone straight to a random mechanic in the area I was he told me stem seals lucky I did more research end came across your video

And... the M57 Diesel Engine is 'Deleted!' i.e. EGR (SCR, DPF?) removed. You can see the EGR space where it used to be. Nice!

The smoke is normal, but the ticking from vacuum pump is not, there is too much play, probably you can drive with it but its getting worse over time. if vacuum gets too low this can cause malfunction of the turbo and brake booster, also more power from engine is needed to drive the pump.

mine makes a similar noise for about 10s after I start the engine from cold in the morning. Not when it's warm. Is that normal? Not sure it's from the same spot. Thanks

Are you sure? What about if we change the vacuum pump? Will the noise disappear?
