Pro tip: you can use the metal piece of the lighter to scrape the side of the case into a fine powder ...in case you don't have a knife or a key

If you have a qtip or other cotton fibers you can sting cotton fibers over the striker and quickly strike the lighter over and over till the cotton fibers catch on fire. A homeless man showed me this

I know a lot of little tips and tricks like this somehow I never considered the part about scraping the plastic that's some good thinking. I always tell people most of the time you're going to have trash in your bag or find trash out in the woods(unfortunately) but it can definitely save your life if you know what your doing. Another man's trash is another man's treasure.

Even when you think a lighter is all the way empty, and won’t light anymore, you can remove the metal framing, then hold the gas release button down with one hand, then flick the flint with your other hand and you will have a small flame. It will light another 20 plus times as long as there is no wind because the flame is so small.
