So, Lifting Trash is Hard Labor Now??

This guy is using a special device just to lift ONE bag of regular trash into a dumpster. This perfectly embodies America's growing softness - we've become so weak that basic manual labor now requires mechanical assistance.

This probably isn't his fault. Probably some dumb corporate thing.

One of three possibilities
1: Corporate
2: Disability
3: Lazy

As a former employee of a grocery store, we literally had bags of trash that took two people to lift. Some of those bags were so heavy it was crazy.

I'm 59 years old. Our trash bags from the restaurant often leak. I would appreciate something like this.

He is absolutely justified, so many times i wish i had one of those as a janitor. Water is 8 lbs per gallon. Milk is denser meaning heavier. People usualy throw liquids in trash bags not even thinking about what it does for the person taking it out until they have to do it for a job. Every action has a reaction or consequence

Work smarter not harder. My boy looks young saving his back. I’ve work in construction when I was youngster. Lifting stuff like I was he- man… that takes toll on your back in the long run. Now at 48 retired my back my back is pretty much toast. Can’t stand straight, can’t bend over, can’t stand long periods of time

I wouldn't have the patience to wind that thing up.

When I worked at a grocery store, some bags would weigh like 70 +pounds filled with glass, liquid, cases of broken pasta jars, ect. They would tear open when you didn't lift them from the bottom and we're not good on your back. This dolly would been appreciated. Not to mention the height you have to lift to get them in a dumpster is no joke when you also have to worry about not tearing it open and creating an extra 15-20 minutes of work cleaning it up. This might be a novel concept for some of you who live on the internet for a living.

After 30 years of lifting cargo over my head, I and my shoulders welcome this machine. Sorry, ABL, but I need this.😂

Not needed for every bag of trash, but I would have loved that when I was a dishwasher. Those dish station trash bags were a nightmare to lift. The plastic could almost never hold up to the weight of the trash and if you messed up, it would bust open and you'd get dirty food and swamp water all over you.

Reduces the need to bend, lift
Prevents injuries from sharp objects
Limits direct contact waste discard food and liquid which can leak

Well if he needs to do that multiple times a day maybe it could come in handy for preventing back pain.

When I think of trash bags breaking open when you move them, though…I totally get it

Probably is a corporate thing. Place where I work has signs explicitly stating we shouldn't lift anything over 25 lbs with our own hands.

Nothing wrong with making things easier! 😂😂

Let’s be real, the company has probably had enough of people suing them because they’ve hurt their back lifting trash…so here we are 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes there are many variations of these types of dollies, for various different types of weight lifting.

I know home Depot and Lowe's used to make their employees wear back braces no matter what they were picking up, it could be just policy. But it's also work smart not hard, he's building arm strength without injuring his back, I have no idea how heavy the 🛍️ is nor what is in it.

I would use it now, because I've worked over 30 years lifting people in health care and worked in the warehouse packing and lifting boxes.

That's the result of an "at job injury" and now the company is trying to cover their ass! Too many people "hurt" at work and milking the man.

Bags can get heavy depending what’s in them. I’m 6ft, over 200lbs and have needed help getting a bag that was easily pushing 300-350 pounds in a dumpster before.

I worked at a restaurant and I can see the dishwasher crew using those. On my first job in HS I washed dishes with a 19yr old. We would usually get the heavy trash bags together. I had a swim competition one day and couldn't work. The guy worked alone and ended up with a hernia from lifting the trash.
