Intro to commercial sewing patterns

If you want to make your own clothes then sewing patterns are one of the best tools to help you get started. But like with using any new tool it can be a bit of a learning curve to get started. So in this video I'm here to help walk you through what to look for and what all the different elements are. We also cover some of the jargon and how to navigate the complicated looking instructions.

I’ve used a variety of brands over the years Vogue, Simplicity, Butterick, Burda and McCalls and my favourite for fit for me is Burda. I used to use Burda Style magazine a lot for children’s clothes but now prefer their individual patterns for my clothing. I haven’t yet tried a PDF pattern.
