JP shares pivotal info and work ethics pertaining to his daily lifestyle schedule. It almost sounds unbelievable but he's managed to operate like this, working 14 or more hours everyday since 1985.

Imagine working 14 hours a day for over 30 years and then someone comes along and says it’s not fair that you have more than them

Bear in mind that JP's workday includes watching Disney movies

When I first heard this I was like "wtf? He works 2 hours per day?" Then I realised he meant PM.

I was hoping for an 8 minute flex consisting of getting up in the morning, meditating, working out and talking about the importance of being an entrepreneur and chasing our dreams in the Hollywood Hills. I suppose realism will suffice.

I vaguely recall something about those Few men who are just crazy enough to keep working like Duracell bunnies no matter where they are, drop them in a forest and they will chop trees..

"I don't like to be unoccupied, I have to be occupied, doing something productive, all the time..."

... we are not the same people.

Would watching Jordan Peterson lectures for 14 hours in a row be considered work ?

Working all day, everyday, for a job that doesn’t care about you, beyond clocking in and clocking out for the same job you do now, is pure living hell.

Didn't expect any less, for a man of his calibre

It's not really 14hours. Because, in those hours there are things like eating, nature's call, shower and others.

So you're saying I should organize my life along the lines of the lobsters?

I got a friend who was kicked out of school shortly after me ( a few weeks later apparently ... ). His father owns a big sign writing company which he built from scratch over the last 45 years. When my friend was thrown out of school, his dad basically gave him two options - leave his house within a week or come and work for him at the business. Obviously, he took the second option. Despite being a millionaire and having 50+ employees back then, my friends dad showed him no favours at all. He made him start from the bottom, 12-16 hour shifts driving all over the country. He deliberately gave him the worst jobs. Every year or so, his wage would go up but he still had to put in the hours and the miles for 20 years, learning everything about the business.

So now my friend is operations manager and, for all intents and purposes, acting director because his dad retired 3 years ago. He earns £115k a year (plus dividends and bonuses) and works only 50-60 hours a week. Every November he takes 2 months leave and goes on vacation to Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand etc and sometimes he takes me along. He has over £700k in the bank and is set to inherit a few million in property and in shares once his parents pass on. He STILL works those 50-60 hours a week but his plan is to retire once he hits 45 (so in 7 years).

Lots of my other friends are quick to say "oh just because your friend has rich parents, it's easy for him..." etc. Couldn't be further from the truth. Fact is he earned it because he knows more about the sign writing business than anyone else in the company now his dad has retired AND he has put far more blood, sweat and tears into it than any other employee. My friends who talk behind his back haven't done much of a hard days work in their lives and all they ever do is complain about the easy jobs they actually do (and how little they pay).

Hard work pays off in the middle of your life if you focus it into the right situations and possibly get a sprinkle of luck, but working that hard till your 65 must be terrible. I respect my friends Dad for building a mini empire from nothing but at the same time I wonder if he thinks it was all worth it? Now he is in his 70's and constantly at doctors, his lungs and heart are in bad shape etc. It's a hard life if you want to be successful.

I mean, the guy suffered an insane sounding nervous breakdown this year where he couldn’t remember who he was, so... I believe it...

It is amazing he's been working this hard for a few decades, and people try to question what he says, he has read more books than those people's families combine in their lifetime

I know many older men like this. Workaholics, put crazy hours into their job and lifted their families out of poverty. My own uncles were born in poverty ( by indian standards ) and are now millionaires somewhere in Texas and Michigan. Cleaning your room can do wonders if done the right way.
