I just started tretinoin last week so this was perfect. The purge, if there will be one, hasn't hit yet. I'm also using benzoyl peroxide on the off days (started with tret once every four days) in the evening and have really been aggressive with using hydrating and moisturizing products. So far I have had small bits of flaking but nothing else.

Hi Dr, I can use retinaldehyde 0.1% 7 days/week without irritation. Can i do tretinoin 1 day/week and retinaldehyde 6 days/week? Or i will be wasting tretinoin this way?

Should spironolactone cause purging? After a few days of starting it I got a really bad painful breakout and I’m worried about how long the purge will carry on for

Can urea cause mild purging, like tiny pustules that are barely inflamed? Like tiny outline that is either pink or light brown. I'm not sure if I should continue or not. I have some build up of dry skin that I can't get rid of. It doesn't feel tight. I've been using azelaic acid for 8 months. Could it be the reason?

Can’t count my daughters comedones- there are hundreds. Her forehead is covered and all along her cheeks. She’s beside herself. Tretinoin burns her. Her Derma says Tretinoin is the only thing that will help😢

Dr Sam, I have been prescribed 20% azaelic acid and 0.018% tretinoin. I am starting off introducing the Azaelic acid every third night because my skin is so so prone to dryness and sensitivity when I have used actives in the past. Should I continue getting used to the azaelic acid as it is already drying out my skin? Or should I do tret and AA on rotating evenings every three nights. I am trying to treat hormonal acne, blackheads and pigmentation. I am using the sandwich method and using a thick moisturiser and barrier cream/occlusive every night but still dry and purging
