Thank you omg, I find this topic the most frustrating in skincare! People will call any irritation from a product a purge, even when it lasts for months. I hope everyone will see this.

I was using 0.5% retinol for months and my skin did not stop flaking the whole time, now I know it was a reaction and not a purge, switched to 0.25% and now my skin is much healthier, no more flaking and the retinol is actually working much better! My skin is glowing now!

I feel like calling it a purge allowed me to pretend I'm not really breaking out 😂

The path to my heart (and trust!) are the words „Do you have a liver and two kidneys? Then you don’t need anything detox.“ 🥰

I noticed with retinol that I only broke out where my skin was visibly congested before or tiny bumps were just on the verge of coming to a head, and no pimple stuck around for more than a few days. People say you’re “purging” if you’re breaking out on your typical areas, but even if I get a pimple on my cheek (where I usually break out) on an area that was totally flat and smooth before, I know it’s just a bad skin reaction. Really annoying that companies push the “purge” myth to get people to stick with a product for months that just isn’t working for them

Please do a skincare review of European products! It is really hard to find in Europe the products you normally recommend :( I saw that La Roche Posay for example (or Vichy) launched Vitamin C lotions.. perhaps it would be great to know your opinion on products we could find in the European pharmacies (like the stories you did in Paris) - we have the same products in all pharmacies all over the European Union..

This video was SO NEEDED, oh my gosh thank you… I’ve been experiencing a “purge” on my acne prone areas but with the overuse I also inflamed the comedones coming up, which was basically my skin telling me “ease it up!”. I’m so sick and tired of online skincare forums’ cult like thinking where everyone tells you that it’s ok to fuck up your skin bc there’s an end to this tunnel. All the scarring people had to go through! 😣

The amount of times I've seen people give products bad reviews because they aren't using them properly just blows my mind. Especially when it comes to retinols. Thanks for spreading the knowledge so people are more well informed!

I started using 0.04% tretinoin in October. I used it up until March, when I noticed my skin was only getting worse. I took a few weeks off before seeing a dermatologist. She prescribed a lower dose, 0.025%, in hopes that I’d have a better response. I’ve been breaking out ever since. Basically 7 months of horrible skin - the worst I’ve ever seen. So many people told me this was normal. I saw my derm yesterday and she agreed that tretinoin isn’t for me and my skin was actually having a reaction. Thanks for sharing this! People need to realize that these aren’t one-size-fits-all products.

Topic suggestion - masks? Do clay masks actually cleanse the skin? Do the (non-sheet) masks actually do anything other than making you feel good?👀
