Loved the view on 'the scene.' I read it when I was in my early 20's the year that 'IT' was released, and I wasn't horrified by it. I took it as a deep seal of their bond that would never die. Their bond was unique and strong enough that what would usually be felt as cheap, 'Icky' or regrettable would never raise those feelings in them, ever. Also given Bev's horror of her father's intent, I truly believe that this first experience of sex for Bev would eradicate the threat of the lifelong damage that would have ensued for her if her father had been her first. Instead it would now forever be a deeply special memory to her that nothing her father did could ever destroy. They saved her.

DNF The Stand; 500 pages in and could not take the crushing boredom any more.
Same with Misery. DNF. Torturous boredom.
