Having the Enduro 2 for a couple months now, the flashlight is such an under-rated feature. LOVE this thing

Seriously one of the first reviews I've seen other than DC and DesFit that realistically reviewed and compared these. Thank you. Subscribed. Side note - looking yoked my dude, keep getting after it.

To me battery life is king. I can't tell you how many times I leave the house and see my battery is going dead. Charging every day just sucks, now charging once a week is a game changer!!!

I had been using the Forerunner Solar 955 and Apple Watch Ultra at the same time and I ended up returning the Ultra. I think I might buy it again one day because I loved it but other than a little bit better GPS my Series 6 has much of the same functionality. The 955 has great GPS accuracy (the ultra and 955 were off by .7 of a mile on a 10 mile run, but shorter runs neck and neck). I also love the data displayed by the 955 and the recommended runs it offers me daily, sometimes I use them and other times I use them as a recommendation. I also like switching between my Pixel 7 and IPhone 13. Garmin watches are some of the easiest to switch with. I do miss the smartwatch features of the Ultra but my Series 6 also can do most of what the ultra can do. Thanks for the content.

Great video, and the the most accurate representation between using the two. I am a huge apple fan but have been using Garmin for years. I’ve been testing the F7 sapphire and AW ultra for a couple of weeks and can attest to everything you said in this video. The Athlytic app has been very inconsistent for me, the data is not nearly as robust as Garmin. The app mostly uses HRV and resting heart rate while sleeping whereas the Garmin takes into account five different data points over one week to determine training readiness. Also, as you alluded to the data screens on the Apple Watch, while visible are not as easily referenced due to the way the data is lined up in one row. At the end of the day, I just need to question if the Apple Watch ability to answer calls and respond to text message is that important to me because essentially that’s the only additional features I’ve been using. I think if all I did was run, I would be more prone to use the Apple Watch as it’s a very good running watch, but for my endurance, style training, including swimming and cycling, it’s just way too fragmented and frustrating to use. The other big thing that I think a lot of people don’t appreciate is the fact that there’s not a whole lot differentiating the Apple Watch ultra compared to the standard series 8, which is just a few hardware features. I think this is a big miss in the software department, the ultra definitely needs more staple software features for training baked in. Thanks for this very unbiased video.

i used apple watch 5, 6 and 7 before. battery life was really frustrating. I'm stuck between apple watch ultra and garmin watch. but I heard that apple watch ultra is not very good in terms of battery life, so I switched to enduro 2 and I'm really happy, it's just a little big but you get used to it. I'm very happy with the battery life is amazing so I really recommend garmini. This is my idea

So I currently use the whoop and Is very interested in using garmin full time to get out of the subscription wall of whoop. Would you or anyone be able to tell me if the garmin would be able to read my heart rate through my tattoos?

The GPS time, might be rated that way, and I am still very impressed with the Garmin. I did the rim to rim in the Grand Canyon, all in one day, and my Apple Watch 6, ran in GPS mode for 15 hours (left on during breaks), a little over 12 hours of move time, with 30% more batter power left. I know its not the Ultra, but I would expect the Ultra to be better.

Forgot to mention that one can get Garmin watch with titanium body and matching titanium bracelet which is a really cool and very functional upgrade. And also Garmin has a whole series of new MARQ 2 premium watches loaded with all possible features including OLED screen at $2000+

You mentioned that you found the Apple Watch Ultra to be more accurate at tracking heart rate. What were you checking against?

I have the Garmin Fenix 7X, and nearly always use a chest strap because I find the wrist based heart rate monitor to be unacceptably inaccurate. Haven't used the Apple Watch, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's better/good enough.

I think you're spot on with the physiological features on the Garmin being way above what the Apple app eco system can provide. My girlfriend went from Garmin 645m to an Apple Watch Series 5 to a Garmin Fenix 7S over the course of 4 years. She also had a Coros Pace 2 to supplement the Apple watch due to it's really weak battery life and poor fitness tracking. It's really hard to make an Apple Watch compete with the features of a Garmin, and impossible to make a Garmin compete with an Apple Watch. Ultimately, if you train very frequently and value that "don't have to worry about it at all battery life", need detailed and rich recovery metrics, quality training plans, and route planning/navigational features, you have to go with Garmin.

If you want a very convenient computer on your wrist, and just need a watch to track and monitor your exercises the Apple Watch is a more robust experience.
