Tesla Model Y - Florida Road Trip 2,600 Miles Part 2

Here for another great adventure in our Tesla Model Y! This time we are headed home from Disney. Never fun to say goodbye to our happy place, but such is life.

At about 1,000 miles to home from Disney, this road trip is yet another long one in our proven and trusty Tesla Model Y. From charging, supercharger strategy, hotels with destination chargers, we experience it all.

The biggest surprise we find this time around is the widely more available V3 Superchargers now. In fact, this is the first time ever we have been directed to so many V3 chargers on a single road trip. We only utilized V3 chargers in all charging stops everywhere except for Florida!

Part 2 is our journey back home from Disney, which includes a stop near Atlanta for the night. Be sure to subscribe to catch more road trip videos coming soon!

I have learned so much from your trip videos, I think I am confident in making my first long distance trip.

Always a thumbs up Mr. BTG! Man, you were tired at your first stop! I can’t get chance for many long road trips so it makes me feel like I’m doing one when I watch you which is nice :)
Fascinating observation about the changing V3 landscape and something only long term Tesla ‘road trippers’ like yourself can observe and inform us of. Thanks!

Here in Dallas Fort Worth we’ve just got our first, very much needed big V3 supercharger stop just north of downtown. Previously we were on long wait times to access the only and limited stall V2 chargers. Now these new ones opened 10 minutes away there’s no issue even at rush hour so more people can charge their cars more quickly in the same amount time. This is going to help local and ‘road-tripper’ owners AND….non-Tesla owners when that eventually comes to the USA, but for now, we’re seeing lots of V3s starting to pop up on the I-75 corridor here in Texas, PLUS…..Elon living in Austin only helps the States conversion rate to Electric as more and more Teslas are seen in the area!

Looking forward to your next posting!

I hope that you and your family had a great time. And once again, thanks for the education.

Looks like you stopped at the Supercharger at the first/last Service Plaza on the FL Turnpike (near Wildwood), they just opened it a few weeks ago. I haven't been able to make it up there yet (I live in Orlando) - I hope it was a good experience. I really like all the FL Turnpike Superchargers - especially the new V3s - so convenient! Tesla is nearly done putting a supercharger at all the Service Plazas! Canoe Creek is under construction right now (just south of Orlando). This is a great time to be a Tesla driver in Florida!

Thank you so much for this!! Anxiously awaiting the delivery of my performance model Y in January 🥲🙃 Really want to take my first road trip sometime early next year and these vlogs are invaluable!

Literally just did (some of) this trip. Orlando to Denver, but it is fun to see someone else do some of the drive.

Thank you for letting me ride along with you! We’re planning a San Diego to Orlando trip next summer to visit my Mom for the first time since 2018 (we’re behind schedule due to the worldwide “situation”). This depends on the new Teslas delivery date now in April.

Thanks for taking one for the team and not flying! You are the man!

Interesting to compare Tesla’s forecasted stops to ABRP. ABRP recommends 8 stops, taking 18:19, almost a full hour longer than Tesla’s plan. They calculate the route from DisneyWorld to IKEA (Indy) with these stops:

Gainesville
Valdosta
Cordel
McDonough
Adairsville
Crossville
Louisville
Indianapolis

Can you discuss why there is a 1H difference in ETA?

I just drove from Portland to Vegas and back and I was so over it on day two on the way the way back I came up through CA and all the superchargers had wait lines and slow charging. Tesla road trips are becoming less fun every year.

Man I'm making the trip from CIncinnati to Disney increasingly more often (one coming up in January to the boardwalk then in October to Wilderness) and it's fun watching you do the same stops and having the same issues. I sure do hate that Lake City supercharger because it's always packed and so slow.

Hey BTG, hope you had a wonderful trip! Was wondering why not charge to 100% on the hotel destination chargers during your overnight stay? I apologize if you addressed this earlier, I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery of my Model Y in a few days and look to take many a road trip.

Hope you had a good trip. I took the exact same route as you, almost down to the mile in my model 3, the same week. I live near HTC also. Just wanted to point out that you missed one of the new Starlink installations at the Lake City Supercharger. It’s the only one I found on this trip.

Great road trip video. Hey, if you want to see a high number on battery usage, try driving to Phoenix, from the Midwest, in January, with a loaded car, and a big roof carrier on top! I think my average is about 450 wh/mi.!

Bro! I live a few miles from ya, super crazy! Appreciate ur videos, very informative. Our y PUP is supposed to arrive Dec 18th 😬🤞🏻 I’ve been binge watching videos, (especially urs since we’re neighbors) nearly every evening trying to learn as much as I can. I’m WAY more excited then the wife 🙄😅 Got some additional questions so hopefully we can either catch up sometime around town OR chat through this format.

Thanks for all the content BTG!!! I ordered MYLR and waiting for it to be delivered in Feb 2022. Excited to go on road trips!! I want to know how to find the hotels with chargers? Also, can you please give an estimate on the price I would have to pay for a trip like yours. Thanks 😊

Going to be as efficient as possible, next scene driving 80mph lol 😆

Why not use camp mode instead of the hotel when you’re arriving so late and by yourself?

Love the videos. This gives me anxiety about taking my MY on trips, 1000 miles and you had to charge 6 times even though range is 330ish miles.

BTG Did you have any problem with Phantom breaking ? I made a trip across Florida last weekend and the Ap was unusable in the bright sunlight with all the shadows. and Yes I did try calibrating my cameras.
