Other reviewers have not mentioned the rattle/noise downside of this expensive sun shade. THANK YOU for pointing that

Have the roof sunshade from tessories, works great and have used it all summer to keep the temperature down. Easy to take down and fold up, I keep it in the sub trunk. Have just taken it off now that it's cooling and its great to have the natural light in while driving around :)

A must in summer. My M3 is an oven otherwise.

I also live in Northern NSW where temps head into the high 30s during summer.

Removed them as week ago and no probs with temps into high 20s. Nice to have the glass back again!

Thanks for the very honest review. I just love my open glass but agree this is the best solution if you need a shade ❤

I put custom fit window blockers on my side windows and windshield so this shade is amazing. It saves your interior and battery life since Tesla's run the AC when temps hit to high (unless you turn this off)

I'm not a fan of glass roofs. I wish they were optional. Tesla should include a sunshade, built-in, like almost all other manufacturers. If there's an aftermarket solution, it's obviously possible and there's a demand. While they're at it, put the damn shift/signal/wiper levers back in the other models!!!

I got ID4 just because of this reason because NY weather reached 100F in August and Sept. ID4 comes with a built in sunshade and a full panoramic glass.

I got a full roof shade for my Model Y and it really helps with blocking out the heat on hot days. I also agree regarding the xcar rear shade, it was a waste of money as you can't see anything out of the back window. It's really false advertising as they claim you have visibility when you actually don't. I used the rear shade a couple of times when I first purchased it and haven't used it since.

Living in Brisbane, I use the Tesla sunshades for my M3 between Sept - March and highly recommended them. Did a road trip between Brisbane and Melbourne at Xmas and we’re glad I had the sunshades fitted.

I’m 197cms and I can say without any doubt that a sunshade is an absolute must for my model 3, I even tinted over the Tesla tint to make it darker on the glass roof. I’ll preface the comment by saying I live in far northern NSW and not Victoria where it’s significantly cooler, on average. I might add though that I only bought the shade for the front glass panel. I’ll take it off for Winter. I use the Tesla ones, they are great.

It's hot alright when you park the car out in the sun during Aussie summer days, yeah your AC can cool it down eventually but it's still uncomfortable when you have kids in the back seat as the rear AC isn't that effective, so a shade is definitely a must and would have been better if Tesla designed and offered that as an option.

We have a model Y with two kids and have never felt the need for a shade in Victoria. Use the cabin overheat protection and have tinted the windows and it seem to be just fine.

Thanks for this video, was waiting for a review of this.
I do wonder when el nino hits is over the next few years whether it's going to be needed to keep cooler during a proper long hot summer that we haven't seen for 3 years now.

100% agree that the glass roof is a beautiful aesthetic that i prefer despite the heat.

I bought shades from Amazon. There’s a silver cover which fits onto a matched white fabric interior cover. The reason I bought one was because in direct sunlight, the top of my head was roasting. Since fitting the screens, hardly anything. The downside is that they’re always there. Teslas have awful AC and the blower is noisy, so overall sun screens were a very useful accessory and helped conserve energy. Buy screens and then tell me they’re pointless.

Live in Newcastle. Absolutely need a sunshade in summer for my 3 and Y. Having said that the weather has just cooled down here and I took the shades off. Happy days! The glass roof is just beautiful.

I never thought about a sun shade for the glass roof, but I guess that would be handy if you were camping inside of the tesla, as that would block out light as you are sleeping.

Nice Vid! Additionally i want to point out that the radiating heat from the Glass-Roof doesn't come from the Sun burning through the Glass. The Sun just heats the Glass up because it's so heavily tainted and this heat radiates, but if you precool it down longer/ drive with AC, it cools down and than you don't feel anymore heat radiating from it! That means that on a longer drive you have no Problems at all, even with kids or dogs in it, and i feel no difference to all the other cars i had without any Glas Roof

yep I bought the oem tesla branded sunshanes they work well but I plan on never removing them, but I like the idea of the open and shut sunshades too.
