Being canonized a Saint is not being inducted into the Catholic Hall of Fame. There are specific criteria that must be met.

And your agreement doesn’t matter. There has to be evidence of a miracle attributable to the potential Saint.

Benedict XVI probably will be canonized one day. He only just died in 2022, which is why he isn’t already canonized. The process usually takes a while, and I believe it can’t even be first opened until 5 years after the person’s death.
