I stopped by and Mark gave me that Skywagon history lesson four years ago. Now I’ve owned my 180J for the last three. Thanks Mark, great stuff as usual, please keep it coming.

Thanks Mark. A soft spot in my heart for 185s. Great memories.

I was told by a well respected shopowner in AK when I was buying our ‘71 185E a number of years ago that the switch to the two-piece turtleback, around the beginning of the F’s was because of a quality control issue when Cessna took the experienced guys off the Skywagon line to build the Citations. He mentioned that some F models had crooked rivet lines resulting in the E’s having the best build quality. Not always, but if you look carefully at certain aircraft you can occasionally see the point he was making.

maybe stop by a rebuild shop with one completely apart to see the real differences, or better yet rebuild one yourself instead of taking salesman talk as gospel
