A truly intelectual is someone who accepts good arguments from the opposite site as well.

It seems to me that math and numbers, if they exist outside of the material universe, then they must exist in a God-like mind. It seems to me that the existence of numbers and platonic realities would be a powerful argument for God, not a threat.

Isn’t the unreasonable effectiveness of math an argument for God?

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:20‭-‬21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [21] because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

It’s not hard to recognize true propositions and math as another of God’s attributes.

That's actually an argument against atheists this claim. Logic, order, design, doesn't come from algorithm, you need to establish algorithm if you want order, therefore God made it.

It's interesting to hear him say this because accepting the sort of Platonism he's talking about is what led to my accepting that God exists. I understand it now as essentially identical to the understanding of Christ as the Logos that you get in St John's writings.

It's strange how one can see this is an argument against God when to me. This is an argument for God's existence a signature especially when the generally accepted claim is that we live in a chaotic universe that spontaneously erupted from an infinitely small finite point expanding outwards

I can guarantee not a single theist can actually fathom the possibility of there being a world that doesn't need a creator.

You're so absorbed into the mythos of the Bible that you immediately jump to defend it rather than entertain the idea on its own merits.

Mathematical truths exist only in a mind. So because a great mind exist, math exists.

There isn’t any good argument against God. God owns logic.

You can look at a square and say “hey, that’s a square.” That doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist. We have an ability to reason because we were made by God in his image. If we weren’t made by any God, congratulations- you inherently embrace relativism, which every godless society has come to embrace, and that’s not a good thing.

Your going to have to explain the bridge. How does the existence of abstract mathematical shapes show in any way evidence against a god creator? Also, many or most Christian churches believe now in god scientist that isn’t contrary to the laws of nature but master of them. Which this wouldn’t argue against god in any way. It actually supports the existence of god more.

How many Christians struggle with the problem of evil vs the problem of abstract objects 😂

However, maths online exists because a Cause, created the universe where all measurement remains constant (eg: 1 metre is ALWAYS 100cms etc).

Geez William, just call "uncreated abstract objects" what they are.- ideas. It's OK to say it - god is an idea. Always has been.

I wonder if he talks in that stilted way in every aspect of his life. Ordering at a resultant, helping his kids with homework, talking to his mother, arguing with the phone company, having relations with his wife. I must say I find the idea intrinsically comical.

I’m thinking that this is not a good argument. Basically the argument is that if something is not created the God is not the creator. Except the whole argument is if God created if the first place.
