The Sony a6500 Has BAD Autofocus

I did a lot of research about the Sony a6500 before I bought it, but didn't know what happens when you attach it to an external monitor.

Auto focus on my 6500 is limited when you're in manual mode shooting video. I got mine a few weeks ago with the Sony 20mm lens for $700 and am very happy with it.

Rolling shutter can be fixed in post production. How many times do people pan so quickly that rolling shutter is a problem anyways? I hate watching videos where the camera is moved so quickly to induce any rolling shutter.

My A6500 is not problematic. I have it set up with an external battery and I can video for over 3 hours on a charge. My external monitor does not have the problem that this video indicates. Could it be the monitor itself? I do not see anyone else with these problems posting on this or any other site.

Title is Sony has bad auto focus and yet you talk about battery life, rolling shutter and the lack of flip out screen first. With the greatest of respect I’d say The auto focus on the camera is amazing, if you don’t know how to use it then that’s user error.

I just learned last night from a video that the a6300/a6500 loses face tracking when connected to an external monitor (weird).... I currently use a panasonic G85... which is hands down better than the sony (except for autofocus). But panasonic does have a killer app that gives you complete control of the camera, so it's pretty easy to use for a single shooter.

huh, my sony a6300 (only slightly different) does not reset the audio level when i turn it off. Very interesting that yours does.

I can't stand that the mic. port only has microphone settings and you can't change it to line level to be able to use other mic preamps.

I've been having an issue with my smallHD powering my a6500 too! I thought it was just me..other vlogs said they could get hours out of the battery..but it just died on me in the middle of a gig...no warning at all!?

What a bummer! I thought one of the main reasons you wanted this camera was for the awesome auto focus? Can you sell for a setup that works better?

That's a shame Rick. I use a Rode filmmaker wireless mic and the volume doesn't reset. also try a firmware update on lens too? All the best for the new year.

Idk what lens u using but ain't nothing wrong with auto focus on my a6500 at all

If you use a 3rd party or not original sony batteries it will reset
