SONY A7IV vs a6500! // a6500 still worth it?

Toady's video is as raw is it gets for cameras! I showcase the brand new Sony A7IV and the six year old a6500. Showing you what you get right out of the box with both cameras. All I can say is the a6500 is still a very good starter camera for your money.
If i had used all the crazy settings for the A7IV then you would notice how much better it is. But for basic settings they are surprisingly close!

Tips coming from an owner of both cameras. Tip 1. Don’t have the money get the A6500 and invest the rest on lenses. If you like the crop factor upgrade to the Fx30. Tip 2. Get the A7IV if A you have money, and are going to taking the workflow to take your work to the next level. The A7IV provides both the ful sensor and crop mode, so in “theory” you get “2” cameras in “1” plus the extra dynamic range plus the photos on a full frame lens are chefs kiss. Tip 3. Stay with the A6500 shoot log but really be mindful of getting your shots as best as possible to deal with the 8bit which doesn’t provide the most flexibility, in photos use Ai to upress the photos for extra quality.

I picked up an A 6500 body in 2020 for $700 then got the Sigma trio for a little over $1000. Recently I picked up the Tamron 17-70 for $700. For taking pictures anyway, this 5 piece kit is hard to beat for a price that's less than the A 7IV body alone. Disclaimer: I'm an amateur that edits JPEG's in Windows 11 Photos but boy are they sharp.

Dude, so needed to seee exactly this. My a6500 is also my workhorse annd thinking about 7iv, really impressed with the mic performance. stabilization much better on the a7iv

The kit lenses on the a6500 is useless, I bought a sigma 16mm and 30mm 1.4 . The difference was like night and day I suggested if you buy the a6500 don’t use the kit lens .

Wow really makes a6500 show its age. The dynamic range and contrast and overall image quality is way better on a7iv. I really didn't think there would be that much difference.

No point to shoot in 1080p on A6500, as well as both have terrible white balance in there
