Perfect beginner bike for bros who can handle 200 horsepower and don’t need to learn how to steer or brake.

Salute to all R1 and R6 owners, please keep them well maintained and cared for. These bikes will be relics one day.

r1 owner here-- the thing I would have added re: urban use, beyond just the coolant temp - the bike in general **GETS** **HOT** hot hot hot hot HOT. If you're not going 70+ it just doesn't have the airflow to keep itself appropriately cool for urban riding. This means the aux fans kick in early / often / (always). You will abhor every stop sign/red light on the planet, as motion is your only savior from drowning in the lava-cycle's fiery wrath. The "fire logo" you put on this thing is 100% appropriate.

If you live in phoenix like me, the dead of summer actually becomes an off-season. Good thing all winter is fair game!

That said, not in a million years would I trade it for a cbr/gsxr/aprillia/bmw. a duc. Maybe- but that would be a 35-40k bike, and this is ~19k.

The crossplane is a legendary engine. In my opinion one of the best sounding bikes ever made.

Resident near RR tracks: Officer, I'd like to report a motorcycle doing wheelies.
Officer: Is it the same guy every day?
Resident: Absolutely not. It's a different bike every time.😆

I daily my 2015 R1 fully modded. And never skipped a beat. Just regular maintenance and I take her to the canyons on the weekends. I love it

Zach is such an eloquent and well spoken smart person and of course he really knows how to ride a motorcycle and put it through its paces when most of us just scratch the surface 😅. Kudos to you Zack👏😃 your analogies are always spot on. Cheers!!!❤

I commuted my 2021 for about three years and bro was i OVER IT. I’m on the taller side and riding her was spine breaking. Truly an amazing machine, for weekend rides😅

I have owned 3 of them, one an R1M. They are magic on the race track, not to mention faster back roads. Miserable around town though or on rough backroads, though the current generation is better in that regard than the previous. It is a really well built motorcycle.

I'm sorry, you have a dirt road test section for Super Bikes on your way to work? I'm new to your reviews and the idea of an R1 hitting a dirt road, let alone your request for a jump, just makes my day. 😂 It's been 5 minutes and I'm still 😂 Well done Sir. After a bit of reflection, maybe it is a good test to see how it handles if you leave the Racetrack. I'm partial to the old FZ1 from the turn of the century myself

Definitely not designed for long rides. This has to be one of the most track-focused bikes I've ridden. You mentioned how smooth it is, and I 100% agree. On track it's amazing. The R1M is even sweeter, give one of those a try on the track. Both deserve to be on the race track.

I can hardly stand to ride my 2022 R1 30 miles on our boring Minnesota roads. But all day on the racetrack is a piece of cake.
I actually rode it for 800 miles in 3 days in the wonderful Ozark mountains.

I rode my r1 on track, and on a road trip from Scotland to the south of France no problem!!

What I've learned most from this show is that I personally do not care at all how appropriate for daily riding a bike is. I would take the R1 over all of those in a flash, just because of how beautiful it is.
