Sales are also falling because everyone is broke with no disposable income. Inflation, student loans, and skyrocketing housing cost are killing the market for recreational toys

It's quite easy (albeit sad) to understand the demise of sportbikes:
Aging riders moving on to more comfortable machines; ADVs and naked bikes being more and more capable when it comes to performance; Euro emission regulations killing in-line 4s; increasing cost of living - people in general have less available income and motorcycles are very expensive toys; and finally, in a society obsessed with being safe and secure, a race replica machine is not something most people are into anymore.

Pretty easy to understand yamaha didn't wanna deal with euro emissions and that's why we're getting the r7 and potentially the r9. There is nothing to do with anything else. No company is gonna wanna discontinue what's working for them.

Right before Kawasaki came out with the ZX4RR I had bought a 2021 MT07. I really enjoyed it but I was missing the sound of the inline 4. I owned a Triumph Street Triple for about 6 years along with a Bonneville. I found myself riding the Bonneville more after awhile. So I traded the Street Triple in for a cruiser. I loved the sound of the 350 degree crank parallel twin sound with Predator mufflers. But the parallel sound of the MT07 didn't please me at all. The bike was great but the romance wasn't there. Since getting the ZX4RR, I want to ride it all the time. The joy, it brings me is beyond common since but I will be enjoying it for a long time. I thought about a ZX6R but I don't think it would be more enjoyable to me. Speed isn't everything. I'll never get the 4RR to it's max. One happy guy.

It sucks, Im in my 40's and still prefer these bikes and don't care about getting into any other type of bike. Ah well, ill keep what i have for as long as possible and continue to buy older sportbikes.

Its definitely sad however, honda has re introduced the cb600rr in europe for 2024. Granted its not a 1000, but at least some brands are willing to make them.

As people stated too, inflation, cost of living, crazy taxes, just a rough time and its a shame these companies are moving away from race bikes.

Why not 1100cc to compensate the power loss because of the upcoming Euro 5.5?

Government regulations and skyrocketing inflation/interest rates are killing them

Pretty excited to see what they come up with for the r9. I really like the cp3 motor as well and I think it'll be a nice replacement for the R6(not the r1). I do hope they boost the power numbers with the r9 though and put it in the realm of the gsxr 600 and Kaw 636. If they do, the added torque of the 3 cylinder over the inline 4 will be a very welcome perk.

IRS is relentless and takes %50 of my income every month, , and if iam late i get threatening letters that my property will be seized if I don’t pay on time. Its absolutely disgusting the amount of taxes that are taken from hard working Americans on a daily basis. Vacation’s ? How when the same amount of money is due every month regardless if you make any income. IRS taxes are a form of stealing!!

Between regulations and expense that market is dying. With that said the V4 engines that Ducati is using are freaking fantastic.

Put a 1000cc single cylinder in the new sport bike👌🏼😜

I bought a 2023 MT 10 and loving it. Don’t understand why people like them race style bikes on the street makes no sense. On the track makes total sense.

Can’t wait to watch r1 prices go as crazy as r6 prices. Currently used R6 pricing for a 2020 is only like 2-3k less than a brand new r1 😑

They have gotten to expensive for the streets as a street bike

Still disappointed that we won't get the xsr900gp but I guess waiting for an r9 is okay too

A 600cc bike was good for 160mph but not with a P twin, more like struggling to get 135

I'm gonna Google this soon but why is euro emissions so important. Are they outselling the US by that much that they need to give up US sales because of euro emissions
