I have noticed more than any other specialty how different radiology are on the phone and in person. When I call them up I get my head bitten off for an inadequate order etc etc even if they do eventually protocol the scan, but on the occasions where I have ventured into their lair to discuss a case in person they could not have been more friendly and helpful. I can only assume that living in the dark has given them very sensitive hearing and the phone is excruciating for them. If you have time I always recommend going to see them in the reporting room, just be sure to whisper. Oh and you often get a biscuit as well while you are there.

The FIESTA (Fast Imaging Employing Steady-state Acquisition) sequence is indeed the best MRI sequence for the brain stem. Unfortunately it’s not part of daily routine brain MRI and I have to special request a fiesta 🎉 every time.

I work in a Radiology practice with Radiologists and they are so cool to work with ! They are quite tech savvy, understand data and their discussions on subject matter is complex yet fascinating. But then in the past, I have worked with Cardiologists, thoracic surgeons and Infection control nurses who barely make it over the line separating genius and psychopaths.

My mom, a radiologist, got into her job because she “doesn’t want to talk to idiot patients.” (Also she hates sunlight and socializing so)

I’m surprised the interview didn’t take place in a very dark room

I'll never forget when I went and had an MRI done to test for parkinsons and they struggled because shockingly I have uncontrollable tremors which makes the whole keeping still thing hard. They ended up wedging my head against the machine with pillows to help keep it still and in the end my report was "motion limited, " "indeterminate, " and discovered a lot of "non-specific" things

My mom is a 20-year rad tech and I’m a new rad support after a 5 year stint in ortho. It only took me a few days on the job to learn that everything she ever told me about radiologists and everything in this video is 100% true

"Clinical correlation recommended" is usually the go to phrase on the report.

@Dr. Glaucomflecken - cannot believe how perfect the timing is, having my Radiology specialty training interview in 2 days. I was looking for that video, and though that previously found therapy vid will hopefully become relevant when I get it. Bringing up the rods will surely make for the success!

Thanks for another round of guffaws, esp. how you “fleshed out” the radiology dudes … showing their mutual appreciation of the latest in imaging equipment features … flexing about the benefits of a fully remote work environment, the joy of a work chair that fits like a bodysuit, the legitimacy of indeterminate findings.
