The paintings were actually way more accurate than I was expecting.

Honestly the photos made me appreciate how amazing the portrait artists were.

Honestly the paintings really emphasize her eyes, obviously making them sparkle oin the daylight, and even in the photos where she's older he eyes do seem to sparkle am it's amazing they captured that.

the paintings were pretty accurate considering she was younger when they were made

The thing to remember though is the paintings, many were done in her youth of beauty, photography was invented later in her long reign which was portrait of latter years.

It's crazy that she started life with paintings, but when she was older, photographs became possible. Two perspectives of not just her but the times changing with technology, etc. I like it!

Edit: i have never in my life gotten this many comments or likes! :)
I just thought this was a cool video. Thanks for the spelling reminder, though.

One factor to consider is that the paintings captured her youth while cameras came when she was old and when she was miserable after the death of her husband Albert so imo both the paintings and the photos accurately capture her looks, they just existed in different times

Makes you honestly impressed with how well artists can capture people like that.

While there are clear differences between the portraits and photographs due to how old she was when they were produced, there's something amazing about how the eyes are the one constant throughout all of them!

I read that she never recovered from the death of her deeply beloved husband, wearing black to the end of her days. I felt like I could see the difference and the deep hurt she carried in later life in those images.

No matter of the beauty standards, she was beautiful woman ❤❤❤

You have to compare apples to apples. The paintings are of her at 18, the photos are of an older woman who was heart broken.

paintings captured more of youthfulness and softness but photos more of her wisdom and strength.

The paintings are surprisingly accurate from her eyes to her nose, its just different stages in life, she was a younger woman then.

most paintings were done when she was young. the pictures were when she was older and the camera was invented.

I love the way the paintings emphasized her “baby face”/youth, and the photos are TRUTH. Both are so beautiful

To be fair, the paintings were done when she was young. She was born in 1819 and cameras hadn’t become widespread for even the higher class until around the mid to late 1800’s. Plus, portraits were a sign of wealth and prestige, so they were more common amongst the rich and ruling for much of history, even into the early 1900’s.

The painting captures her soul, I can see it in her eyes.

I think it's really cool that the painters were able to capture her true essence which you can see with the similarities in the photos
