Don't forget that death masks usually widen out the faces due to the weight of the mold, though not too much. So real appearance is likely somewhere in-between the paintings and the mask.

And she was executed after being held in prison for a while, and still looked pretty. At least she is remembered with more honesty today.

I so agree with the comment she was pushed into this at 14 a baby and only knew luxury she wasn't evil cuz I didn't believe all the lies told about her... She was greatly lied about.. The French used her as a scapegoat.

All of you wondering how she looked so peaceful even though muscles contract and tighten after death through a process called rigor mortis, they probably stressed and stretched and tried to soften her face after death so it was a more peaceful appearance just like us funeral directors do for open casket funerals getting the dead ready to look their best and at peace hope this helped
