Here in Canada, they actually sell flavoured egg nogs like chocolate or peppermint. Amarula, Irish creams, crème de cacao and rum are my favorite alcohols to mix with it.

Also, substituting half the milk in French toast with eggnog is pretty good. If you substitute all of the milk it can be a little strong and due to its thickness it doesn't soak into the bread as well and changes the consistency of the French toast. Not necessarily bad, just different.

I enjoy the rich creamy overindulgence of goodness in straight nog. But it is excellent thinned down a little. I'll even use it in breakfast tea with bergamot oil!

I've not tried eggnog in years and always thought it was terrible, and I dared not ruin my alcohol by mixing it with something sweet. Your suggestion of mixing it with hot chocolate is intriguing, and it makes a lot more sense to mix it with something.

I like eggnog that comes in cardboard milk cartons. You open the carton, pour the eggnog down the drain, rinse and dry the cartons, and stuff it with edibles you want the kids to stay out of, like snickers bars or Klondike bars, fold the top back closed and toss it in the freezer. Safe as Ft. Knox.

the best way is to make it yourself
cut it with some irish cream if you want a bit of teeth too it
or put it in an ice cream churn because it's just a thin spiced custard
