Never tried eggnog before since I grew up in an Asian household. Then, I dated a white guy. His grandma made both non-alcoholic and alcoholic eggnog and it changed my family’s tradition forever. We broke up, but I found a way to make them. So, I shall follow your recipe this coming Christmas. Thank you!

I've always made my own eggnog from a recipe in a 1947 cookbook. I've never cooked it. The recipe is pretty much like yours but without cooking it and refrigerating for later use. It's a "drink right away" drink.

this is the recipe Ive always used.
The whipped egg whites are the secret ingredient missing in all others.
I suggest pouring the eggnog in the glass first, then adding the rum slowly and stirring, then adding ice. If the rum and ice are in the glass first, the eggnog will float on top and is not easily combined with the rum.😊
