Should you buy the 15” M2 MacBook Air? OK, so the short version of this video is that the 15” M2 MacBook Air is probably the best 15” laptop in the world for most users - but not for every user - so let’s talk about it.

You see, the 13” M2 MacBook Air is the best-selling laptop right now. It’s the MacBook that got the most updates this year - with a new design, larger display, magsafe - and everything else that I mentioned in my 2 month review. But the one comment I kept seeing is that a lot of users wished they could get one with a bigger display - and they didn’t want to have to pay the $2,500 for the 16” MacBook Pro because they didn’t need a Pro device.

Can't argue about the build quality and dimensions. Super thin making it comfortable to type with, screen's slighlty larger than a typical A4 sized document to get productive with work, can fit in most backpacks, rigid. The LG gram is crazy light but frighteningly flimsy like a washing machine cover. I'm a big fan of this laptop, 👍

I always look forward to your videos. My guess is that the MBA 15 is going to take the crown as Apple's best selling laptop, especially for those don't have another computer and don't need Pro power. I'm in the MBA 13 camp because mine is just so crazy portable, and I have the luxury of a Mac desktop and a 27" monitor when I need more size and power.

Hit the spot! I switched from MBA M1 13 in last year to MBP 16 in just for extra productivity for my work. I work remotely Literally across the globe, by the pool, beach, restaurant you name it. Over the past year I’ve been taking the weight of it because of the productivity + screen. But really, moving around the city + even around my hotel with it is so uncomfortable, I planned my days only to work at my hotel room because of the weight. I live in Budapest where there isn’t any Apple Store so the only version available was the MBA 15 with 8gb RAM. I had a chance to get the 16GB version in Austria but I skipped it saying to myself that it’s fine, my MBP will be ok. THEN i went on a one week vacation to Turkey where I was barely in one place. Working by the balcony, lugging the MBP to the beach and cafe WAS DEFINITELY noticeable. Enough was enough. The only reason I bought the 16 was because of productivity and took the weight because frankly, there wasn’t alternatives. When I got back from my trip, IMMEDIATELY bought the MBA for my trip to Portugal. And let me tell you, it was a DREAM. Taking it to the airport -> hotel -> pool -> lounge chairs -> mall -> gym-> pool was AMAZING. SO LIGHT compared to my 16in and sacrificed virtually nothing in productivity (ofc the windows I work with are a tiny bit smaller but got used to it ). Paid $1800 for it here but I am getting $300 back in taxes so around $1500 for base model, taxes are pretty high anyway for Hungary. I really debated whether it was worth it to “upgrade” from the 16in but I realized why not both? Have a 16in at home powering my 2 displays and 16GB ram + so much multitasking, and a 15 in that I travel with, so light and doesn’t sacrifice on productivity. I thought the screen would be 10x worse or something but actually in direct sunlight it’s still visible!

I just got the MacBook Air 15, overall happy and the sound is amazing, a game changer compared to the 13inch. But I found it much thicker and heavier than expected.

I love my Macbook Air 15in. Nice display and really fast. I clocked mine against my Dell XPS 15 9520. I was shocked when I saw the Geekbench scores. My laptop was plugged in and my mac was not plugged in. I got to say I was really happy.

I think the older m1 macbook pro 14" would be a good alternative if it was found refurbished... the weight isn't too different (0.2lbs) and it comes with better peripherals and upgrades for a power user.

Honestly the only thing holding my base M1 MacBook air from being my main video editor is the lack of disk space and it's small screen. The processor and ram are fine for 1080p or light 4K. So I have to believe the M2 with the video engine, and the larger screen, would be an absolute powerhouse.
I think if I could get one with 16gb ram and 1tb of disk space I wouldn't need to upgrade for years.
Although I didn't buy my M1 MacBook as a video editing machine I bought it as a typewriter, so I'm fine. Just impressed by the capability of the tiny device. If I had specced it up to 16gb/1tb I'd probably be video editing on it all the time

Bought a 13" MBA that was too small. Bought a 16" MBP that was too heavy, sold it, and bought a Surface Laptop 15" size is just right but...Windows, just bought a 15 MBA, think that will be the sweet spot.

I have a USBC port for charging through a dongle and the dongle has a bunch of other ports in addition to the USBC port but you can only plug in on usbc devices to that dongle if the USBC port on it is being used for charging.

I'm looking into getting one but there are a couple on annoyances that may end up being deal breakers for me.
1. The notch. The Macbook Air's don't need a notch because they don't have Face ID. Other laptops have webcams with thin bezels and no notch. I think the only reason Apple has decided to include the notch is so that the cheaper Macbook Airs don't make the more expensive Mackbook Pros look bad by way of comparison. 2. The lack of a USB C port on the right side so thay I'm forced to charge on the left hand side only. 3. The low default memory and storage specs of 8GB and 256GB and absurd upgrade prices for storage and RAM. Give me an M2 slot! 4. Older M2 chip due to delays with the M3 which it was orginally planned to launch with. Still a great laptop overall but I'll take my time looking at alternatives before I decide.

I just got the 15 inch MacBook Air M2 and I am so disappointed. I love the big screen size but the typing experience I do not like I prefer the typing experience on my 13 inch 2014 MacBook Air.
