D-Day Hero

Storming the D-Day beach, Hollis didn’t take cover. Instead, in a moment of extreme courage, he stood up and ran zigzagging towards the German bunker with his gun blazing, slapping in a new magazine as he reached the enemy and silenced the threat, he then moved on to the second bun-ker taking 25 Germans prisoner. Sergeant Stanley Hollis continued to storm into action throughout the day. For displaying the utmost gallantry, he was the only man to be awarded the Victoria Cross on D-Day, an incredible feat.

This is amazing! Stan was my grandmother’s cousin, and I grew up listening to these stories about him. The imagery in this video brings to life all the tales I heard as a child. Stan and his family lived with my grandmother during the First World War, and Stan and my great uncle Bill enlisted together for WW2. I’m told Stan was a redhead with a fiery temper to match!

Dear yarnhub, I have discovered your channel through the video where a bf 109 spared a b-17, (not the remaster)
The very first video in this channel.
And since then i have been captivated by your style of animating i have never seen anything like it before so i decided to stick around, i got worried when it took some time before you got to upload your 2nd video, but when i saw it i was amazed yet again by the great storytelling and narration not to mention the fantastic story telling. So after that i subscribed to your channel seeing that you deserve it and had the opportunity to see you learn and experiment with the animations i saw your skills develop with every video adding a little humorous easter egg on the background
When you decided to start animating in 3d, it was really uncanny at the beggining but, with every video they got better, from improving the faces to adding better eyes, i was amazed by the fact that with your weekly uploads you managed to improve in one way or another you never stopped feeding us quality animations and entertaining stories that beat fiction. To this i say thank you for the work you give to us your fans for *free*. Even though you never had any incentive to improve beyond your first style (the 2d drawigs you used to do) you still did it, i admire the dedication and hard work that you put onto your videos and i wish you all goodluck to your future ventures and thank you for taking us fans along the ride.

Currently reading Stephen Ambrose's take on D Day. Heard Max Hastings one is better, gives the audience a better understanding and non bias view. Looking forward to this!

I like how at 0:40, when he says 'screw' his mouth blurs. I love this channel so much.

What a character this man was! I think we all need someone like this in difficult times! Loved the white cat again! I learned something new today again about the D-Day invasion of Normandy! Well done again! Thank you so much indeed!

My God. Yarnhub deserves millions of views for such a well-narrated story and God-Tier level of presentation. No other history channel has this level of quality for weekly uploads!! That's just insane.

This is why this guy is the absolute best history YouTuber ever, ( I know he probably doesn't work alone) but he puts his heart and soul into making these Beautiful animated films Explaing detail after detail. The best part is he doesn't care about Ad revenue, He only wants us to learn history in a fun a cool way.
Thank you Yarnhub!

The amount brawns of steels this guy has, what a madman!
Also, it's refreshing for me to hear stories from British sides during D-Day. They are not really well mention much like the Canadians, French (mostly Kieffer Commando), Poles and much more.
So, it's really nice. :3

I love this channel. Not only for it's content, but the animation style and silly details.

This guy needs A movie all about himself. Not only is he a living walking war God. But when questioned about it he is completely humble. Another example of a perfect soldier

My Uncle who was in the Green Howards, told me he was in Stan Hollis’s platoon and was involved in the action on the day of him being awarded the Victoria Cross. He said he was giving Hollis covering fire on the Bren Gun . I have tried to find Military Records of this but have not been able to. Do you have any suggestions where I may be successful? My Uncle (Jack Thei) passed away 18 years ago.

This man has been awarded the highest award for the British, there should be an award called Hollis award for peoples that fights in 3 major battles and contributes just a little bit to a war effort.

His comment about the 'special equipment' - so totally, typically British. And Yorkshire in particular. An incredible man.
