Does the orientation of the condenser coils matter? Can they be either vertical or horizontal?

So what was the problem? One of The compressor 3 fase motor windings was bad and the contacts burned from over heating? Had to change the compressor?

The compressor is a 3 phase motor. You had two windings with very accurate resistance readings of 3.8 ohms and one winding was out of spec at 4.3 ohms... Isn't that an indication that the compressor winding is no good? That difference also leads to different amperage readings across the legs when running and the compressor will likely heat up with running time. This is likely the reason the terminals melted on the compressor connection.

I have seen this before on central units. I used large gauge replacement wire to serve as a heat sink, no further problems'

I have a question, unrelated but might be of interest, lets say i have a string of solar panels wirh a steing voltage of 300V, is there a way to just inject that power just past the bridge rectifier? Food for thought

Hi Forever Tech English,

Thank you for explaining the error on the split unit.

if i turn on the AC unit it starts working for about 10 minutes, after that it goes into error P4 and the compressor stops.
I have done all test about the compressor wiring and tested the body short, everything is fine (also the compressor works for about 10 minutes, even the pipe starts getting ice on the surface and the indoor unit start to give cold air).
I have measured the IPM and it gets +300V on the positive pin and 160V on the U, V and W Pin.
Once the unit goes into error mode, the U, V and W Pin only gets a 23V.

- Negative probe on Base (Gate) and Positive on Emitter i get 0.546V
- Positive on Gate and negative on Emitter i get 1.083V
- Negative on Emitter and positive on Collector i get OL
- Positive on Emitter and negative on Collector i get 0.464V
- Negative on Gate and positive on Collector i get OL
- Positive on Gate and negative on Collector i get 1.372V
Is this IGBT broken or is it still oke?

what else could give me this error while i don't see anything else wrong or broken?

Thanks alot.

With friendly greetings

Meerschaut
