Kevin I learned a lifesaving trick from an old electrician which I have used ever since. IT IS THE GREATEST; Whenever you touch an AC wire or a 110v cap wire like you did, have your thumb grounded. Like on a receptacle box that you think you have cut the breaker to the wires, put your thumb on the box firmly, then touch each wire rapidly and momentarily with your forefinger. If it is still live, it goes thru your thumb to ground, not your heart to ground!

watched this video because my compressor was doing the same thing. when I checked the capacitor all it was, was a corroded broken connector on the back. simple 5 min fix. thanks for your help.

A capacitor, which is connetced to 240v can store a lethal amount uf energy. Touching the terminals can kill you, even if the mains is disconnected!

that safety you bypassed is just a breaker. You can buy a replacement and they are not expensive. That just means it will trip there rather than at your panel or outlet. Thanks for the info. I have been dealing with increasing issues with that. In seemed more evident in the cold. I guess the start up is harder in the cold.

My capacitor has just blown bigtime it blew a chunk out of the plastic housing! I managed to find enough bits of white plastic to establish 25 micro Farads. I Have one on order. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the video.
