For those who don't understand, Family Guy was cancelled in 2002, and then renewed in 2005 (largely because of how popular it was on Adult Swim). This is the first scene of the first episode of 2005 after the three year hiatus. Peter is listing all of Fox's cancelled and failed attempts at TV shows from the time that Family Guy was cancelled, to the time it was renewed.

The very first thing they did when they got uncancelled was mocking all the shows that tried to take their place on the network schedule. Take that!

Family Guy was canceled twice, first in 2000 then in 2003. This episode aired in November 2005. Every single show Peter name-drops had either already been cancelled or was announced to be cancelled by then

It just goes to show how out of touch Fox has been as to knowing which shows actually had dedicated fans. Not only did they cancel Family Guy twice before they realized what a cash cow it could be, they canned shows like Firefly and Arrested Development which had both critical praise and a loyal audience. Futurama was probably in that group too if Fox would have ever given it any promotion or consistent time slot...

Since only about 5 people in the world noticed this. When Peter says Greg the bunny he slightly turns towards Chris a reference to the fact that Chris’ voice actor Seth Green was one of the stars of Greg the Bunny.

This is a perfect Take That to FOX. Not only that, but Peter actually mentioned the network BY NAME! Impressive.
