Types of Drill Bits - Wood, Masonry, Metal
Показать описание
How would you be able to identify the type/purpose of a drill bit by just looking at it. Watch this 55 seconds video to learn how different drill bits look like.
There are 3 main different types of drill bits. Namely - Wood, Masonry, Metal.
Wood drill bit has got a sharp tip. You could press this sharp tip into the wood for very accurate positioning. However, you can't use wood drill bit on any other surface as it'll break its very thin tip.
Masonry drill bits can be used on concrete, stones, brick & plasterboards. In other words, they can be used on walls. However, if the masonry drill bit reaches a metal surface inside the wall or ceiling such as studs, metallic beams & columns, it won't be able to cut through. It has got a flat end. The flat end works like a chisel and hammers to chisel out the masonry.
Metal drill bit as the name suggest can be used on metallic surface, plastics and PVC. Just because it's a metallic drill bit, it doesn't mean it'll quickly drill through the metal. The drill's helix continues all the way to the tip of the drill bit.
And finally, we got the General purpose drill bit which can be used on wood, masonry, metal, PVC, & plastic. However, I recommend using the right type of drill bit for the purpose it is designed for & avoid general purpose drill bits!
