Did you know there are TONS of types of drill bits? Take a look at why you need each kind and what materials you should use with them!

In this video we are going to go over number, fraction, and letter bits, which are your standard sizes. (Plus metric! If you aren't American). Then we go over forstner bits, which are perfect for drilling large holes in wood or plastic (not metal!), reamers- which give you a really accurate diameter, unibits/step bits- which are great for larger holes in thin sheets of metal, and countersinks (also helpful for deburring).

You forgot to mention metal cutting bits should you want to drill holes in sledge hammers. And always wear eye and ear protection. And when soldering, use a good fume extractor.

Letter and wire gauge drills are used for threading to fill the gaps in fractional sizes. That's why machinists use them. It has nothing to do with the age of the blueprint.
