It's 3:46 am and I'm learning all about drills on YouTube

Tommy! I am 75 years old and have probably been using drills longer than you've been alive; however, you taught me something today! The proper way to secure a drill in the new drill motors was probably in the owners manual - but. I'm so smart, I didn't read it! I had no idea that actuallt torqueing it in was better than the "quick grab and trigger" method. Much obliged, young fellow. Excellent presentation. 🤠

I used to think, I have a drill, why bother with an Impact driver. Then yesterday, I put up a shed, with an impact WHAT A DIFFERENCE!.. Worth every single penny

I realised recently that I've been stomping through my ignorance through sheer dumb luck and a bit of DIY experience, so I started looking for a 'back-to-basics' video on drilling. This is one of the best that I've found. It's really good. Subbed.

I’m blown away at how informative and effective this video is. All with great pacing, humor and solid production?? Bravo! This is really making me feel better about what I can do with my new drill & impact driver!

My home depot has a sale on dewalt drill sets right now (at the time of writing this) for like $150. It comes with a drill, an impact, a charger, and 2 1.5 AH batteries. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

I've prewatched your video and prefound it very informative.

For many years I drilled holes into concrete using a regular drill. Never needed a lot of holes in concrete, but always didn't look forward to that task. I knew about hammer drills but come on, how much faster could they really be? Well I had a fair amount of concrete to drill and it was kicking my butt so I broke down and bought a hammer drill. Holy crap, couple minutes vs 30-60 minutes.

Can't thank you enough! I decided to buy a cordless drill, found one with an impact included in the "kit" and went with it... not knowing what the heck the impact was for! Hey, the sale price was great! I do my utmost to learn something new every day... thanks for educating me today! :)

DeWalt's decision to put torque, drill and hammer all on a single collar is the reason I buy Makita. I regularly go from drilling to screwdriving. I do not want to be twisting that collar between every operation. Makita's approach of a torque collar and a separate drill/drive/hammer lever is a far superior solution.

AWESOME VIDEO!!!
Bro this video has taught me so much that I didn't know but wondered about. Being retired from the military and now newly resigned from the post office with a fairly new home I have a ton of things I want to do. I've had a drill for YEARS but never really had to use it to it's full potential until now. This video has taken me to another level!!!!
THANKS A BUNCH!!!

Excellent video, especially for beginner DIYers. Please make more of these especially for countries where wood is less often used and brick/concrete is far more common.

I’ve been using these tools for eighteen years- and I definitely learned a thing or two here. Thank you for your content!

I started out with an entry level 18v drill + driver 2 piece kit, and later on added a brushless 18v hammer drill (same brand, better model). Having 3 items means less changing of bits when doing drilling, countersinking, and driving. Really saves time and faffing about. And if you stay in one ecosystem, the batteries are interchangeable too.

Super video. I was pre-watching for several minutes, but then realized I was just watching - no "pre". I appreciate your attempt at stopping the world from referring to any drilling as "pre-drilling". Thanks!

This is one of my all time favourite YouTube videos, purely for the section on defining the meaning of "pre". I have this argument constantly, and can now send a link to this for any future conversations. In fact, just by typing this comment I'm already pre-drilling (and pre-ordering, pre-planning, pre-purchasing and most other pre-words)!

6:15 I'll also add that brushes tend to spark under heavy load - a massive problem if you're working near an explosive atmosphere or in a spark free zone.

Been using these drills for a long time, never tightened the
chuck to hear clicks no wonder some bits came loose.
Thks for the great info.

I really appreciate properly used words and phrases. I can't help it. I was just born that way. For example, it hurts my soul when people say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less". So, I smiled and nodded in agreement during the segment on pre-drilling :)
