Whoa, A few more facts.
1. The staff/pilot furlough was because there was a recall on the NEW plane's jet engines (by the manufacturer) which has grounded twenty planes for years 2024 and some of 2025. Spirit couldn't fly the planes. That is why pilots were let go.
2. The NEW ERA was brought on by the larger airlines selling tickets for basic seats, the same as what Spirit was selling. So Spirit along with Frontier Airlines decided to offer new options such as the Go Big ticket that gives the passenger a larger seat, free drinks and snacks. A cheap first class. JetBlue and Southwest are making the same type moves in 2025/6.
3. The Columbus flight was unfortunate, though it happens to all airlines. Spirit actually has one of the youngest fuel efficient fleets in the US
4. Bankruptcy - Spirit does have loans totaling $1.5 Billion dollars due September 2025 that is being renegotiated right now. Spirit also owns over 1 billion in aircraft and equipment.
5. Spirit has a new CFO with industry experience along with other new management. When I flew Spirit three weeks ago (in the Go Big Seat) the crew was friendly and I received an email questionnaire about that day's service.

So, my fingers are crossed, Spirit will make it just fine.

Spirit, from what I hear, is getting worse and worse. Spirit more like Unspirited.
