Chris Collins' Mr burns and Harry Shearer's Mr Burns sound very similar. One may not be able to notice the difference if they didn't know about the change of actors

Never realized until today that Mr. Burns' original voice actor was none other than Chris Latta (credited as Chris Collins) of Transformers and GI Joe fame.

I wish we’d had the opportunity to hear Chris grow into the character of Mr. Burns. Considering how insanely talented he was, it really would have been something.

So i never knew someone else voiced mr Burns, until i goggled Mr Burns, because i needed to know how Harry Shearer name was spelled. It was then i saw "Chris Collins (1989-90) Harry Shearer (1990-present)" so i had to hear how different the voices were. And honestly i wouldn't have guessed this wasn't Harry, I'd just assume it was another case of the voices not setting in yet. As for why Chris was replaced, Sam Simon (one person not two, also rest in peace) one of the producers on the show found it difficult to work with Chris

That was apparently the same guy who voiced Starscream. Doesn't sound a hint like him. Interesting.
