Pretty sure the hired goons are the great-grandfathers of the hired goons employed by Mr Burns.

I love how they are literally trying to “smash” atoms with sledgehammers

Montgomery Burns has to be one of the best characters of all.

Atom Smashing. A bunch of workers with hammers splitting atoms to generate power for a 1900 nuclear power plant. That joke is gold. And the Japanese comment, especially the date when this episode was written, so good.

Plot Twist: Mr. Burns was the old man with a cane in that 1909 clip the whole time.

We should all agree to use the word "Flimshaw" in our day to day encounters. :)

This is perhaps the single most sophisticated joke sequence they ever did. Its unbelievably smart and witty.

“Atom smashing” Man, these genius, earlier Simpsons episodes must have been written in golden ink or something

Anyone notice the Burns Sr.'s enforcers looked exactly like the ones Burns has?

Also, Burns Sr.'s vision must be really impressive if he can see atoms with a magnifying glass.

Isn't this a real life reference to the fact that an actual union rep with organised crime ties went missing and was burried in a football field?

0:34 : Just try to tell me that that little melody isn't the best little musical short performed for the show. I can just keep re-listening it over and over.

I worked for a guy just like Monty Burns father. Had the hat and everything. I`ll never forget being told by my boss "Mr. would prefer that you NOT speak to him.", after I said good morning as I passed him in the
