A few weaks ago I walked 27 km from my home village to the one of my wife (both in Austria), mine is 273 m above the sea, hers 695 m. It took me 5:30 hours and it felt very meditative.

I would like to thank the Swamiji for his excellent guide to Walking Meditation. However, I would like to add some more points, which I am practicing and getting more benefit that I would like to share with others:
1. When we reach the destination ‘point’, instead of turning back immediately, we have to stand still for sometime keenly observing the entire body with the feeling, as Bhagavan Buddha himself said, “I am not the body, the body is not mine and the body is not my Atma [the Self]. We have to stand still like this till some other unnecessary thought of the mind interrupts the above feeling: the moment we notice unnecessary thought, we have to slowly turn back and move towards the first ‘point’ and again we have to stand still here also with the feeling, “I am not the body etc”;
2. Even while moving, besides observing the steps as Swamiji explained, we have to observe the entire body simultaneously with the same feeling, “I am not the body etc.”
3. We should also understand that the body moves inside the Space [akasha], though the Space does not move at all. In the same way, the supreme and innate feeling of “I Am- the feeling of Conscious Existence” also does not move like space though whatever steps the body takes. This helps us to understand that there something in us called “Buddha Nature”, which does not change and remains the same throughout.
