thank you. This is pointedly helpful. Thankfully I "only" have to get rid of a widespread indoor plant problem. I can't imagine trying to fight these things off in my outdoor gardens. hope we hold on to hardiness zone 4 longer.

i got rid on my thrip by removing the big leaves and then adding humidity domes to each indvidual plant and that seemed to work well too

They make whitefly sticky traps that work pretty well.. You can use Growers Trust spider Mite Killer (works on all plant sucking insects), or any product that contains pyrethrins.. If you need a link to the products you can use for Whiteflys just let me know in private message.. Keep it green man!

Neem oil is also a great alternative. I use it as a preventative but also to keep my leaves clean now it’s always on hand and it’s never hurt any of my plants.

What can I do to avoid thrips from appearing in my outside garden this year as they did last year and decimated everything?

I'm surprised there was no mention of ladybugs/beneficial nematodes to fight thrips/gnats.

Thanks for your helpful and very concise video! It's December in Zone 7 for me. Is there anything that I could do now to ensure that I don't get thrips AGAIN next spring. I've removed all the leaf litter from my garden (they love my rosemary and sage). I used to winterize my garden with mulched leaves, but I think that's harboring slugs and thrip eggs. What is the best way to winterize the garden that doesn't make a happy home for pests?

Merry xmas! Well, thrips usually come from bad or outside soil, or soil that was accessible for bugs from outside. I mentioned to remove dead leaves from your plants (and especially your growing area) because rotting debris attracts nothing but bad things (PM and bugs). I've seen lots of people leave dead leaves all around and had a bad mite problem.. You can spray and spray and spray, but they will come back until you fully clean. Bugs (especially thrips) will hide for safety if attacked

If I take cuttings, wash them, throw away the soil and the roots can thrips survive on the stem and leaves while the cuttings root in water?

What nutrients are necessary for my plants after treating them for thrips

excuse my ignorance as a very inexperienced gardener, with a major thrips problem.
1. what is the sand: cinnamon ratio and do you mix it in the soil or just sprinkle it around? How much do you need to use?
2. with the alcohol ratios given, is 5:1 and 3:1 alcohol to water or water to alcohol ?

grazie!

We got a russet mite and thrip problem along with a few grasshoppers and leaf bugs... they are a pain in the ass, the big problem I have is the dead and dying leaf removal, its just never ending, we have done ALL of the bad things, sharing clones, outside soils... my question is; Is there an easy less back breaking way to get rid of the dead leaves off of the plants more efficiently?
