How to Learn ANY Song (my 6 step process)

So I’m in the middle of recording a bunch of new bass tracks for Players Path and I thought it would be cool to make a video and share my exact process with you guys, so that whenever you’ve got a new song to learn you’ve got a system to back you up.

There may not be one specific method to learning songs, but there are a bunch of shortcuts that can help gear your brain in the right direction.

Thinking about it, that's what I do in a roundabout way. Another thing I find helpful is if I have a paper copy of the tab/notation is to use coloured pens to colour code the the different ruffs/licks throughout the song. I learn them individually then when I do play throughs I can see which one is coming up next

Thank you for this great insight into your process. This is so helpful. My question to you or anyone reading this comment is :"How do you get the music score of the piece you want to play?" and "how do you get an audio with the isolated bass"?

If you can't read it at speed, slow it down and learn it at a speed you can read & play it, even if it is 50% of normal speed. Then increase the speed by 5% and play it again -- keep playing it until you can play it that that speed. Then bump another 5%, etc, until you get it up to speed.
