If you like this style of learning, I made a class with my friend Ian on how to build up the confidence to play with other musicians. I'm really proud of it so check it out:

If you've ever wondered how to play the blues on guitar, look no further. Learning the formula of the 12 bar blues is a simple way to understand the most widely used songwriting tool in music.

Using moveable guitar shapes, riffs and turnarounds, you can apply these techniques to any song and begin to recognize them in existing ones.

mate, at 57, having watched 1000s of tutorials, you have explained 12 bar blues in a superb manner.

This is one of the best if not THE best guitar lesson among the hundreds I’ve watched. Sean Daniels has an innate ability to teach, and is funny while doing it.

I played pro Blues harp for many years & picked up guitar some years ago. I've written & performed plenty of songs but found Blues guitar somewhat illusive. Ok so I balked at the vid's title, it seems an outlandish gimmicky claim, but must say Sean you're truly a brilliant & masterful instructor. Thanks so much, this is gold!

After more than 50 years playing the guitar and 35 or more on banjo, that little blue diagram you placed on the fret board is the best thing I've ever seen for teaching.  Great job.

I’ve been playing guitar for 20yrs and this is absolutely the best guitar lesson video I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing.
I understand people learn in different ways, and the way you teach makes sense to me.

Thank you, this was the most comprehensive explanation of 12-bar I´ve seen. Great lesson as always :)

Normally when someone with 'the knowledge' fast fires a lesson, I just end up bewildered, knowing there was valuable information in there somewhere but unable to unravel it. Sean you have the ability to pour out pure gold at a fast rate and my brain just soaked it up, this is great stuff, it's sold like a cheat sheet but it's real music theory in a blues tone. My brain got it all, it's my fingers that are just trying to keep up. Great stuff, thanks.

Why do people have to hate on the clickbait? The only people mad about it are people who already know enough shit about the blues to know it's a baity title anyway, not the kind of people who would actually learn something from it. The man has content and needs to draw attention to his videos. I support it.

This channel is the only one where I can watch your videos and understand what you're talking about off the bat. I graduated YouTube academy in guitar, and I've suffered through the too easy and the too hard lessons. What I love about yours is that anybody could learn from it. Keep it up and never ever ever ever stop lest my guitar strings oxidize.

Thanks! For a guy like me, this beginners lesson allows me to play a sound that is good to listen to and fun to play. It keeps me interested in learning more.

A lot of videos "play" their explanation and expect you to understand the theory by hearing THEM play. The "I played it for you and now you should know" type videos. Your video actually used spoken words on why, not just how.. You're a great communicator. Thank you.

Double the speed and you can learn it in 4 minutes.

Well, the first line of the blues is the same as the second line
I said the first line of the blues is the same as the second line
The third line’s slightly different
And the fourth line has to rhyme

As a beginner / intermediate I've watched a lot of lessons on blues. This guy made more sense in one video than several others combined. Well explained.

I’ve taken music lessons. If anyone has bothered to teach me simple patterns, instead of trying to cram the circle of fifths down my throat, I probably still be playing today.

I've seen so many videos talking about the IV chord, the III chord and the V chord etc... and NOW I finally know what it means! Thank you. With that and the shape explanation, probably the most informative 8 minutes I've ever seen on guitar.

The clearest, most time-efficient, no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point instruction yet. Thank you for sharing. I'm just getting back into playing guitar (approximately 2 years ago), after a 30++ year hiatus. I had played a lot back in the 60's / 70's, ... but sold all my guitars in the 80's & didn't pick one up until about 2 years ago. I was determined to learn to do it right this time, & in-person, one-on-one instructors are a gross waste of time & money. There are countless instructors on the internet that will impress upon you how good they are (usually heavy metal head-bangers), but don't teach you anything!!!! You are a welcome change. I will be signing on as a student as soon as Mom gives me my allowance!!!
