I drive a Toyota, because my 03 Camry went 306, 000 miles. I use TRD (Toyota Racing Development) filters. You can get them at the dealership.

I don't drive much so my oild gets changed & my tires rotated every 6 months. The Mobil 1 synthetic oil & filter are supposed to be good up to 1 year so I think I should be ok.

The AC Delco filters I use are often the cheapest option. Approx. $3 per filter.

I use mobil 1 5 w40..
Changed the filter every thousand miles and topped it off...changed the oil every 5000..
I only got 385, 000 miles on 305 v8 Chevy, then sold it to a guy...

Simple, the more often you change your engine oil and filter, the longer you engine will last..

I have an engine with a top side filter (Subaru)... I should be able to change my filter at the halfway point between oil changes! Thanks for the heads up!

I hate to play devils advocate here, but I'm a dealer used car tech. We use microgard filters, which even the base ones are rated to 5k mi, and I've even used on mine. I've been surprised as I expected the worst.

It's not like they stop working after 3000 miles. Most cheap filters have 80% as many pleats as the top of the line. If they don't filter to the same micron level they won't get that 80% saturated as quickly either.

The cheap oil filter I use claims it can go 10, 000 miles.
