Top 10 Ways To Ruin A Mountain Bike Ride – Ten Things Not To Do...

Ever had a great ride ruined by one of your mates? Here's our list of the ten things that you just shouldn't do on a mountain bike ride.

Sometimes, things that you want to avoid on an MTB ride are just unavoidable; crashes and punctures happen to all of us every now and again.

But, some things that can spoil a ride happen by choice. Don't you hate it when someone's always checking their phone? How about wrecking the flow of a ride by attacking for the Strava segments? There's nothing good about that.

Got anything to add to this list? Let us know down in the comments.

The Global Mountain Bike Network is the best MTB YouTube channel, with videos for everyone who loves dirt: from the full-faced helmet downhill mountain biker to the lycra-clad cross country rider along with everyone and anyone in between.

With the help of our pro and ex-pro riding team we’re here to inform, entertain and inspire you to become a better mountain biker, including videos on:

- How to ride faster with expert knowledge
- Fix everything with pro know-how
- Ride anything with world-cup winning skills

Crashes don't ruin rides, it makes stories for the pub .

Also, what ruins a fun ride are other mountain bikers who tend to judge you by how expensive the bike you ride is.

Something you didn't mention (and something I was often guilty of especially when leading larger groups where the pressures is higher to keep moving) is that after waiting to regroup at the top of a climb, pause for a bit once the last rider arrives to let them recover otherwise they will continue to wear out. Remember your fitness is better and your recovery time is better. Those two or three minutes you waited for them have left you way more rested than they will be. I try to wait a couple minutes after they've arrived and then ask if they are ready before cranking the next section.

The amount of control you had at that "nobody likes a showoff" – impressive. Not that you were showing off ;-)

The flat tire one is so true. My friend and I went on a pretty long trail and his tire popped about halfway through and we didn’t have a pump or patch kit. Nothing.

That ending was hilarious. Probably the truest one is either the one about strava or answering phone calls. So frustrating. Thanks for the upload guys!

By the way, have you guys ever thought about doing a video on how to crash? We can probably all agree that crashing is going to happen to everyone eventually, but if you know how to crash you may be able to avoid serious injury. Thanks Global Mountain Bike Network

another way is your crank arm snap off from a jump and hit your nuts on the stem. And yes, I speak from experience.

I like GMBN IN F O VIDS. I'm new to MTB since I'm a roadie. For only a year. MTB has helped develop other muscle & skill areas that help greatly with roadie
