Another thing about japanese movie theaters is that no one makes a sound at all the entire time. In america people laugh or react to scenes in movies, sometimes they clap because it was so good, like when i saw top gun maverick, but when i saw the same movie in japan, it was dead silent. The loudest noise i heard someone make was a cough.

I’m 6’2” and living in Japan. I’ve had to learn to make a lot of my own clothes. I’m getting pretty good at it and I find that I enjoy it quite a bit.

Japan: don’t get sick after 7pm
US: don’t get sick if you don’t have 7 grand

My friend started having stroke-like symptoms in Osaka at 8pm, on a Sunday.... The ambulance took 45mins on the phone to even find an open hospital.

I get a little irritated with people who overly romanticize Japan, it is a fantastic place to visit and experience but it's got its problems and if you've grown up in the United States a lot of those problems are going to be harder to deal with

"Gun stores, everywhere!!
Jesus, everywhere!!"

If America could be defined in two words, it'd be guns n God

EAUAUAAHGH! That "Nothing is Walkable Here" pierces my soul! Where I live, walking out means several hills, a few miles, and the hot kinda weather where you need a change of shirts after an hour.

Being somewhere with good public transport was amazing to me cause I WOULD like to travel light, but hate the extra need of hopping in a car to get anywhere interesting.

Ya know you always hear people talking shit about the American healthcare system, but it’s nice to hear something good about it for once

The portion size you showed seems pretty normal to me even as a German.

USA: our hospitals are open 24/7!
Japan: our hospitals wont bankrupt you!
Canada: why not both...?

I had culture shock coming back to states from living in Japan for three years. It really opens your mind on how nice can be when people actually care about their surroundings.

The lack of mobility scooters in Japan is sad but not surprising. From what I've heard Japan has poorer accessibility for disabled people than the US. And then people get the idea that there are no disabled people in Japan because they don't see them around. I hope motor carts or a similar accessibility feature come to Japan at some point. They were really helpful to me before I got my powerchair.

I can imagine walking into a gun shop with purple hair, setting up a tripod, and recording yourself like that probably had the employees rolling after you left. 😂😂😂

I love how you've kept it neutral. Some expats have such a superiority complex, and it's infuriating. This is extremely refreshing!
