From the arctic desert in Greenland, scientists have retrieved environmental samples of DNA in the permafrost that are two million to three million years old. With this, they have reconstructed an ancient boreal forest, a rich ecosystem that consisted of various trees, giant animals, small animals, and marine species, many of which are familiar to us today. Major flaw with this analysis is that Greenland was not in the north pole 2 Million years ago. This is based on the land movement trajectory would have been around the African region. If we excavate artic ice there is a better chance of finding some fossil that could well be in a preserved state even now.
