I love how non union workers bash unions, but yet reap the benefits of unions standing up for fair compensation.

Unions in Canada aren’t nearly militant enough.

Let them strike, corporations are too lazy to respond to workers needs.

If there was a time for unions it now, so all Canadians can get a fair amd livable wage.
Stand strong short term pain equals to long term

Why won’t the focus be on having our government forcing the greedy employers to accept the workers demands rather than forcing workers (by law) to get back to work? What the ILWU is doing is for workers to have reliable jobs for years and years to come. The employer should accept the union’s demands.

Increased pay for workers creates jobs not corporations. Screw trickle down nonsense!

It seems he’s fine with the union ‘negotiating’, he’s just not exercising the only leverage workers have!

Why didn't ctv bring on someone from the working class or the union so they can state their position. Instead they import a capitalist stooge to complain about how unreasonable the struggling workers are being

Justice for the working class . Humanity is in desperate need of world run by the workers. The manager class do not have our best interests at heart

$50 per hour and almost $80 per hour for night shift, with pension and benefit. Still want more?

Non-Union employees also benefit when unions win. The labour market is just one market and all employers have to compete for the same warm bodies. The only tool management has is public outrage, I hope it works because the only fall back position, is to come to a deal. JMIO :)

This guy is out to lunch. I had to stop listening. Watching the interests rates of today and our Feds telling us inflation is only at 3%. Peeps will keep striking when they can't feed their families or have certainty of their jobs in future because of automation.

I wish our unions are more like France.

Back to work guys! You have been paid much more than other BC people !
Don't hijack BC people and BC economy!
Before you ask, please take look on what is the BC ports performance ranking in the world. While I am still supporting you to fight for a better live, I, as a BC residents, feel shame on we have such worst performance ports !

What i find troubling is the objection to automation. Innovations are important for competitions, increase security and cost savings that can benefit consumers. This is not just a fair compensation for labour issue. Remember Canada Post workers against automation?

The port of Vancouver and Prince Rupert are some of the most least productive ports in the world, with Vancouver edging out Savannah in dead last. 130k is not enough and they want more money? Hahahahaha.
