Negotiations between the B.C. Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada have stalled.

The Retail Council of Canada says roughly 25 per cent of Canada’s imports and exports flow through west coast ports every day.

Neetu Garcha explains what's keeping the two sides apart, how the British Columbia port strike is affecting the Canadian economy and the potential consequences for workers in other parts of the supply chain.

One of the main issues for many of these workers is that the company keeps on bringing in cheap, untrained people to take jobs away from everyone, but especially non union members that don't know what they are doing and the workers are fed up. Especially when those untrained people are making costly and stupid mistakes

It's time for the different groups of the supply chain in Vancouver and the BC government to undergo negotiations, to resolve those 3 demands by the workers union. It's paramount that the supply chain be restored to keep the economy going and avoid putting strain on already pressured Canadian economy due to inflation, increased interest rates and surmounted household debt.

Gee not much on what the union wants other than what sounde like threats..
Why are not the retail council and the corporate mouth piece chamber of commerce pushing companies tosettle as apposed to making it sound like literally peoples neighbours are the cause of all the strife
