That "disable core isolation" tip at 12:13 alone makes this one of the most useful videos of the year for laptop gamers. Well done, Jarrod!

Bought my first gaming laptop ever 2 months back and now I just came across this video. Done most of the things listed in this video, but it's always nice to know why it's better to do them. Thank you so much for the informative video!

I am extremely happy to say that today I got myself Legion 5 Pro with RTX3070Ti (thanks to this channel I was pretty confident with my purchase). And of course the first thing I did was turning on this super useful video. Thanks a lot Jarrod!

I’m a software engineer myself and I do the exact same steps mentioned in your video. You’ve actually motivated me to start creating my own laptop reviews on YouTube. Benchmarking new hardware always been a passion of mine. You do a great job of going through all important information that be helpful to the possible consumer. Any recommendations on starting YouTube reviews? Also, what do you use for temp monitoring. A lot of apps out there. I’ve been using HWMonitor but doesn’t always detect AMD cpu temps. Thanks Jarrod!

Another good reason to keep the original box and materials is because it helps a surprising amount with resale value down the road.

Would also like to add:

Get a family member to video you unboxing the laptop, examining it and then turning it on. This way no retailer can object to any damage by saying it was caused by you the customer.

tip for new laptop owners: Make sure to check for any offers etc. on free games and Xbox passes that might come with your laptop, but you might not have paid attention while purchasing.

Checking the temperatures is a must. The one I bought came with a manufacturing defect, the CPU would take so much longer to cool down even after I've exited from the game, perhaps they forgot to apply thermal paste or something. Anyhoo, it's a must. Nice video.

Great guide Jarrod! I personally recommend enabling the "Hibernate" option in the power menu, as "Sleep" on Windows has been very inconsistent in keeping the machine asleep in my experience!

I always buy used for the low low price of $200.

My first gaming laptop is the MSI GV62 8RD i5-8300H, GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

I able to play Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord on the highest setting. I capped fps at 30. I just upload my mount archer video. It run smooth.

The most important thing for me is heat. Since I don't know how to open up the laptop case to change thermal paste, I simply purchased the IETS GT500, a cooling pad with an industry turbine fan that completely seal the air inside for better circulation.

It help dropped my temperature from 95c to 65c under heavy load.

Been a console gamer most of my life so your video is very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Jarrod
Been meaning to thank you for your productive reviews! You condense your information & go “just deep enough” to grasp a reasonable understanding. Appreciate that
Got myself the ‘22 Asus G14 a couple months back, and I found myself coming back to your reviews on multiple occasions when exploring options
Keep up the good work!

The core isolation tip is the best thanks alot, im cpu bottlenecked on my asus tuff dash f15 2021 with the 3070 . In call of duty mw2 i gained a huge fps gain by turning this off my 1% lows are 20fps higher and so is my average fps . I was even able to get an even bigger boost using dlss where as before it made no differance

Just got a new laptop, and as LTT has been annoying me for quite a while now, I'll be relying on your channel for things like this video. Honestly, I wish I'd found your channel sooner - you provide way more information in a good, digestable format. Easy to follow and understand, and not a bunch of "entertainment" bloat in the video. We're here for the information, so props!

One more tip is before you actually connect to the internet and update the drivers, you might want to save the system image file using a software called macrium reflect and store it safely on a drive. I had watched videos and read on forums that if your laptop starts to feel slower to you after years, because of newer drivers which slow down the system you can reverse back your laptop to the exact state it was in to factory default, this is better than just regular factory reset of windows on your laptop ✨
