Our Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment . Prohibiting in-person visits is both cruel and unusual .

How refusing a prisoner and their family an in-person visitation, while simultaneously charging for virtual ones, can be argued to not be a violation of the 8th amendment is beyond me. Visitation is a privilege but if the inmate (or uncontrollable circumstances in general) does not create a justifiable reason to be denied that privilege, it would be a cruel and unusual punishment. To me, that type of violation may be deemed worthy of punishment for those very authorities to be in those same prisons/jails.
