If you don't want the screen of your Samsung device to turn off when you are calling or when you are receiving a call then what you do is go to "settings". Go to "Advanced features". Go to this option "Motion and Gestures" and if you see there is an option here "smart stay" and if you see the description keep the screen on when while you are looking at it. So enable this option. Once you do it whenever you are calling and whenever you are receiving your phone and when you take your phone near to the ear even at the time the screen of your phone won't turn off.

Smart stay is not available in the settings of the Samsung A53 5G, Android 13.

Samsung A10s does not have this "smart stay" option. Any other suggestions?

I have a Samsung A21 on Android 11, there IS NO SMART SWITCH on the motions and gestures menu. Setting the Screen timeout to higher doesn't work either; no mater how that's set the phone screen goes away in seconds, and I'm constantly needing to enter numbers during a call. It's annoying enough to never buy another Samsung phone again!

Unfortunately DNA to the S21 ultra 5g. Nor does Smart Stay. Between the system updates whatnot, the phone notoriously blacks out during calls and at random, ignoring the 5 minute timer I set ages ago.

Thank you so much! For almost a year an half this phone's screen kept blacking-out whenever I'd call a business and have to enter several digit options on the keyboard or if I was left on their hold (that was torture) as the darn screen keep going black on me! This feature doesn't work (tested staring at the phone, but it still went in sleep mode after a few seconds (got it set to 10 minutes by default btw)) & This Wouldn't solve the problem even if it did work since you don't want the phone to turn off during calls ; Wasn't asking to stare at the phone during calls, just wanted it to not go into sleep mode, currently very annoying to use the keypad during a call when the screen constantly turns itself off....

Currently had this issue. Removed screen protector & it’s all working!! The screen protector blocks the sensor!!! Check your phone cases and protectors.

This will not work for an incall setting, but I guess when you copy someone elses video rather than troubleshooting the issue will always get you the rsults from the copied video.

Workaround with a macro app (e.g. Macrodroid) tap the screen every X seconds while call and screen is active... It is working for me but it must be a Samsung settings to keep awake...
