Planetary is Godly but New Universal was The One Above all tier level. Shame it didn’t get traction. It was so amazing that M.Night ShamalAmadingdong directly ripped it off for his final movie in the Superhero Trilogy that he made

The only comic series by Ellis I prefer over Planetary is Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. That book is hilarious.

It's too bad Ellis is such a horrible person in real life, because I love so much of his work.

I think The Authority has that vibe of superheroes from the 90's. Ultimate X-Men by Mark Millar, felt a bit more like X-Force by Rob Liefeld, so forth and so on.

Planetary was good, much better than the Authority or his work on Thor. I agree, it is his best.

Transmetropolitan is my favorite work of his. Because my natural morbidity and lack of taste. However Planetary is a work i would recommed to anyone wanting to get into independent comics. Every issue is satisfactorily self contained and it just invites you to make your own theories.
